Grub & Armyworm Control in Whispering Woods, Spring Hill, TN

If you're seeing irregular brown patches that peel back like loose carpet, you're likely seeing grub damage. In Whispering Woods and across Spring Hill, that gravel mixed into our soil during construction makes it hard for fescue roots to grow deep and cool. Grubs chewing on that already-stressed root system are the last thing your lawn needs. The key is to apply a preventive, bee-safe treatment before you see that damage. Once grubs are large and active, the effective chemistries are harsh things you don't want to breathe in, which is why I don't apply them. My standard plan uses a novel, bee-safe chemistry that's very persistent in the plant tissue. The other dramatic threat here is the fall armyworm. When conditions align perfectly, which happens roughly every five years in our area, moth populations explode. Their larvae start along shrub lines and can consume an entire lawn overnight, literally. The ground looks like it's moving. While these severe outbreaks are irregular, the same preventive chemistry in my standard plan covers them. For Whispering Woods lawns dealing with the added stress of construction gravel and summer heat, this protection is a critical layer of defense. It lets your lawn use its resources to survive drought and heat instead of fighting pests. Remember, in our Middle Tennessee climate with heavy clay and humid nights, your fescue needs all the help it can get, especially from June through August. A healthy, dense turf from proper care also naturally discourages other issues, like ant mounds, which around here are almost always a symptom of a stressed tree planted too deep by the builder, not a lawn problem.
